Apple Pay and Discover card compatibility will begin this fall, allowing Discover cardholders to make payments with the app, according to a press release from Discover. Payments can be made through an iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, Apple Watch, iPad Air 2 or iPad Mini 3.
“As the mobile payments landscape matures, Discover remains committed to giving cardmembers secure options for using their cards and mobile devices,” said Diane Offereins, Discover’s president of payment services. “Discover’s focus on simplicity and value for our cardmembers aligns well with the way Apple Pay makes purchases easy and convenient.”

Discover Is Last Major Credit Card Network to Join Apple Pay
Apple Pay launched in October 2014, with major credit card issuers Visa, MasterCard and American Express, according to The Verge. These agreements proved to be smart moves, as the app quickly became a popular mobile payment service.
Since the launch of Apple Pay, thousands of retailers have continued to adopt Apple Pay compatibility, while many banks and credit unions have also worked to make their payment systems compatible.
Discover is the latest to jump on board, and states that customers will still enjoy all the benefits of their Discover accounts when using Apply Pay, including receiving their free FICO scores on monthly statements and access to Discover’s Freeze It security tool to temporarily freeze their accounts. Banks and credit unions that offer credit and debit cards through Discover can also offer Apple Pay support to customers.
